The neodrives rear motor turns any e-bike into a comfortable, powerful and virtually maintenance-free mode of transport. Thanks to its position in the rear wheel, it offers a particularly natural riding experience, high agility and an exceptionally quiet drive – ideal for everyday use, commuting and challenging tours.
The neodrives Z25 is not just suitable for classic pedelecs. Its strength and robustness also come into their own in cargo bikes and S-pedelecs. Only a direct-drive hub motor enables S-pedelecs to reach a genuine 45 km/h – efficiently, confidently and reliably.
The modern design with a semi-integrated battery ensures a clean, uncluttered look. At the same time, the optimised thermal stability guarantees consistent and reliable assistance even on long or steep routes.
The Swabian e-drive supports natural pedalling precisely and harmoniously. The torque sensor is integrated into the motor and protected; the entire drive is completely maintenance-free. Thanks to rear-wheel drive, wear on the gears and chain is significantly reduced – maintenance intervals are considerably extended. Compared to mid-drive motors, a chain set wears up to six times less.
This means that both end customers and specialist retailers benefit from a high-quality, efficient and durable e-bike system of the highest technical standard.

The new Z25 motor offers up to 55 Nm of torque - Starting from a standstill
- compared to the current Z20 e-bike motor, the Z25 offers the ‘start from a standstill’ function, i.e. it provides assistance or starts moving without any initial movement. This makes it particularly suitable for handbikes and similar applications
- The newly developed thermal compound for the stator significantly improves heat dissipation: as a result, the Z25 can handle hill climbs at constant power for up to twice as long as the Z20 without reaching thermal limits.
- The Z25 motor is fully backwards compatible with the components of the Z20 system. In addition, we offer a wide range of battery options with capacities of up to 950Wh.

After riding your system for just a few minutes, it struck me what I’d actually known all along but had long since forgotten: a rear-wheel drive is the best option for a pedelec in everyday use. It simply feels closest to cycling. The virtually silent drive is a delight compared to all mid-drive systems. The gear changes on the derailleur are smooth, with no clanking or banging from the chain when accelerating. In the long run, this will also lead to less wear and tear on the components.
