Innovation
A drive with a history
Founded in 1986, Alber GmbH specialises in lightweight, user-friendly electric mobility. Under the neodrives brand, Alber has also been successfully established in the e-bike market since 2012. The company entered the cycling industry with the neodrives Z10 drive, which was used in hand bikes and classic pedelecs from 2012 to 2015.

Z15
The upgrade
Building on this success, the Z15 motor was launched in 2016 – a technical upgrade of the Z10. A modern colour display, a robust housing and a scratch-resistant screen ensured high quality and operational reliability. The system was complemented by a smartphone app with Bluetooth connectivity and a new control unit for even greater convenience.

milestone
A new standard
neodrives reached an important milestone in 2018 with the launch of the Z20. The drive is manufactured entirely in Albstadt – engineering made in Germany. Particular highlights include the in-house motor design and the torque sensor integrated into the motor. This maintenance-free design stands for efficiency, durability and riding comfort. With around 97% of its value added in Europe, the Z20 sets new standards and continues to be used successfully in pedelecs and cargo bikes to this day.

Z20 RS
More pace
In 2020, the Z20 RS was added to the product range. The powerful speed pedelec drive appeals to both frequent cyclists and commuters alike, accelerating powerfully and smoothly up to 45 km/h.

simply
Easy to use
In 2023, neodrives launched the new simply MMI product family. It consists of the Simplyremote control unit and the SimplyRide app. Both components are developed and manufactured entirely by Alber GmbH in Albstadt.
The simply product family embodies sustainability in practice: the new MMI interface is backwards compatible with all generations of Z20 motors and can be easily retrofitted. The focus is on intuitive usability, high system stability and a clear, functional design.
Development
Made in Albstadt
In 2025, the product range was expanded to include the simplyDisplay. The new display features a clear, easy-to-read interface and allows users to customise the display to suit their individual needs. The simplyDisplay is also developed and manufactured at the Albstadt site.
